Dos illes (Two islands)

The Roosevelt Island is located between Manhattan and Queens, a long strip of land 3 km long and 240m wide. Population: 9,500.

It is connected to Manhattan with a Tram that advances parallel to the Queensboro Bridge, the one that appears on the Woody Allen film ‘Manhattan’ (strangely not as famous as the other two bridges, Manhattan and Brooklyn).

We visited Governor Island too. It is located south Manhattan and it is the only part of NY city with no cars. It is accessed by ferry from Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Currently most of the island is closed to visitors due to renovations and new park facilities construction.
